When the Bear 100 was first conceived, Leland hoped for a point-to-point run from Logan to Bear Lake. Regulatory hurdles prevented this from happening, until now. Because of your stewardship over your forest, the Wasatch-Cache/Uinta National Forest, along with the Caribou National Forest, have granted permission for the point-to-point course originally contemplated.
The maps are best viewed outside of your browser in a stand alone viewer, like Microsoft Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. To save the maps to your hard drive and view them in a viewer: (1) click on the thumbnail to open the large map; (2) right click on the map after it loads; (3) choose "save image as" and then save it where you want it on your hard drive. You can then open it in your viewer by clicking on it in Windows Explorer or Mac Finder. NOTE: the maps are very detailed and very large. You can zoom in on them in your viewer with great detail.
MAPS (multipage pdf file of entire course, suitable for printing)(thanks to Wayne Moore, Cowley Canyon aid station captain, for creating this document!)
If you have Google Earth or a GPS, you can use the data below to upload the course to your GPS and/or computer to guide either you or your crew during the race. Right click on the files to save them to your hard drive, and then open them in the application you are using. Right click the files to download them to your hard drive (left clicking leads to interesting but unsatisfactory results).
NOTE: These files are updated for the 2009 course changes.
GPX files--for whatever retarded reason, your computer may try to save these as xml files when your "save as" popup appears. Don't do it! Rename them as *.gpx files, and you will be fine.
