Summary of the 2001 RaceNear-record heat reigned in the Bear River Valley, but the mountains enjoyed a nearly perfect day, with highs in the upper 60s and lows in the 40s in the basins. The aspens were on fire, and even with the drought conditions, the maples still put on a show, especially in the canyons. A forest fire to the east threatened a disruption, but never got seriously close enough. Just enough to get everyone's heart going, including the RD's. Below are the race results. 1. Hal Koerner III 21.49.26 ! 29 Starters *Betsy Kalmeyer in 2001 finished the Hardrock 100, the Leadville 100, the Wasatch 100, and the Bear 100. She thus richly deserves recognition for being a Rocky Mountain Grand Slammer. Congratulations, Betsy!
